Machli the Tigress – The Queen of Ranthambore

In the wild, Machli the Tigress was a living legend of India. Born in 1997 in Ranthambore National Park, she was not just an ordinary tiger but a symbol of strength and courage.

Machli the Tigress defeated several male tigers to protect her territory and even fought a 4-meter-long crocodile—a rare feat in nature. Beyond being a fierce warrior, she was also a “great mother”, giving birth to over nine cubs, playing a crucial role in the conservation of wild tigers.

Living an impressive 19 years, Machli the Tigress became the longest-living wild tiger ever recorded. After her passing in 2016, the Indian government held a special memorial ceremony in her honor—an unprecedented tribute in wildlife history.
